W/hole premiere!

Rapid Eye has moved into Aaben Dans in Roskilde, for the final rehearsals of W/hole, our upcomming performance which premieres on  august 31st.

In this performance, the two jugglers Samuel Gustavsson and Petter Wadsten quietly yet determined let the hollow represent the whole. From the smallest hole in a bucket, to the deepest hole in the earth - In W/hole, the two marvel at every hole in the world. For holes are life and holes are death. And holes are also nothing at all, besides guests in whatever is around them.

“The quirky and frustrating thing about holes is that they escape both our hands and our thoughts as we try to get hold of them. They are never there by themselves, but always in the absence of something else. Holes are nothing in themselves, they always need a host. Or is it actually the other way around? ”
- Samuel Gustavsson

On a metaphysical level, the performance is a picture of how life can be seen as a gap between birth and death, which we ourselves have to fill or dig in to find meaning. The two friends' shared and individual preoccupation with holes creates a picture of the naively serious mode of life as something at the same time deeply meaningful and utterly meaningless.

“We need to embrace the nothing. It's nothing that makes the shapes we see. It's the gaps that makes the rhythms. Let's change our way of talking about the world, it's the shape of nothing that defines the world and not the material in itself. Without holes it would just be density. Like a black hole."

Samuel Gustavsson

The performance is a co-production with Aaben Dans and premieres at Aaben Dans in Roskilde on august 31st. where it is also performed on september 2nd. 9 AM and 11 AM. From the 7th to the 9th of November W/hole is performed at Dynamo Workspace in Odense. And in April 2020, W/hole can be experienced in Oulu, Finland.

The Great Paradox of Play is going into rehearsal mode from November. We are looking forward to experimenting with the art of magic and researching into the purposeless play at Landskrona Stadsteatern, who are so generous to let us use their rehearsal spaces.
